The Many Uses of Nylon

There are many uses of nylon. Because it is very versatile, you can utilize it for just about anything. The problem is, we often overlook this and just let nylons go to waste.

One thing you need to understand is that nylon can withstand many years without getting damaged. So even if you have been using it for a long time, it would still render useful in many functions.

Here are some of the ways you can use nylon:

1. Storage
Nylons can actually be used to store vegetables such as onions. Because of its make, this material will allow breathing room for vegetables thereby making them last longer. What you need to do is to put the onion or other kinds of vegetables (that do not rot quickly) in the nylon leg, tie it, and hang it somewhere. It is best to hang it on hooks.

2. Body scrub
This is pretty old-fashioned really but you can use nylon as body scrub. All you need to do is to fill a nylon leg with soap and voila! You get a home made body scrub. After use, you can simply tie this to the faucet and reuse the next time you take a bath. Since this is not too rough on the skin, even your kids can use it.

3. Staking plants
Because nylons are quite durable and flexible, you can use this to stake up plants found in your garden patch, such as tomatoes. It has the capability to hold up heavy plants and yet flexible enough to prevent the plants from choking.

4. Cleaning material
All you need to do is to brush it on clothing and furniture to remove animal hair and lint. You can also use it to clean home appliances such as refrigerators. Additionally, nylon makes for a good brush that can shine your shoes, floor, and silver.

5. Home-made toys
Probably not a good idea to use as toys for little ones but it can serve well being a pet toy. You can roll it into a ball which dogs will be crazy about, or you can fill it with pieces of cloth and catnip for your cat to play with.

6. Food container
No, we do not recommend this for humans but rather for birds. You can simply fill it with bird seeds and hang it from a tree. You will find that birds will love this.

7. Filter
We are referring to filters used for paints. Using nylons as filters when you are pouring paint that you intend to store is definitely a good idea. Nylon has fine mesh that works to trap paint flakes and debris.

These are just a few of the uses of nylon, and there are many others not mentioned here. If you have some old nylon that you have kept somewhere, it is time to take it out and find some use for it. Remember that nylon is a sturdy material which should not be put to waste.
